2023 GMC Canyon (L to R: AT4, AT4X, Denali)
We recently reported a sneak peek at GMC’s new Canyon midsize truck, and now it’s here with the first Canyon AT4X model.
The 2023 Canyon is all new, with taller and wider bodywork that’s been chiseled into a rugged look. The new AT4X model is designed to deliver premium comforts along with rugged off-road capabilities; Of course, this comes at a higher premium than others from Canyon, with the AT4X Edition 1 starting at $63,350 before destination fees.

Starting with the drivetrain, the Canyon AT4X will use an “off-road-optimized” version of the Canyon’s only engine: a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder estimated by GM to have 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. . This sends power to the standard four-wheel drive system. The vehicle’s responsiveness can be tailored through five different driving modes: Normal, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain (precision low-speed and rock-crawling) and Low Mode (exclusive to the AT4X).
The AT4X hits the road with a standard 3-inch factory lift, offering 10.7 inches of ground clearance; Elevation, AT4 and Denali trims will see a 2-inch factory rise. The AT4X will also feature standard Multimatic DSSV shocks, front and rear electronic locking differentials, and 33-inch MT tires. Highlighting the vehicle is a front skid plate, transfer case guard and rocker arm guard. Inside, the interior is wrapped in a unique Obsidian Rush/Ceramic White finish. There’s also an 11.3-inch infotainment screen paired with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster.
The AT4X Edition 1 model will come packaged with a variety of accessories, most notably a front and rear underbody camera with wash function, an off-road bumper with a safari bar, a light bar, winch, and beadlock-capable wheels. 17 inches. .
The all-new 2023 Canyon is no surprise after the recent reveal of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, and the inclusion of an AT4X package mirrors that of the Colorado’s first Trail Boss trim level for 2023. Following in the footsteps of the Colorado, the Canyon will only be offered in the four-door crew cab configuration. The AT4X package was first available on the 2022 Sierra pickup, which we had a chance to test in and around San Diego, California.
As mentioned, the 2023 GMC AT4X Edition 1 will start at $63,350 before destination charges. The standard 2023 Canyon will start around $40,000 before destination, according to GMC. Pre-orders for the Canyon AT4X Edition 1 are now open, with production scheduled for Spring 2023. We’ve barely scratched the surface of the new GMC Canyon, and we’ll have more to share at MotorWeek soon!
